BBC Radio Derby have said they'd like to have a chat on the phone and then play my song Lanterns on their Wednesday evening show of the 21st October at about 9pm.

You can listen to Radio Derby on 104.5, 95.3 and 96.0 FM and 1116 AM.

Much of my album Mercy Mercia is set in the Derby area as that's where I grew up.

Lanterns is no exception, as the song ties together strands of different memories, some vivid, some barely memorable of the Derbyshire village I grew up in.

Lockdown has changed the way musicians perform and reach their audiences. So in true lockdown fashion here is 'The Mexican (Part Juan)' recorded with myself and three amazing musicians. My good friend Steve is on Bass, and Andrew (lead Guitar) and Damon (Drums) are guys I've never met in person, but we got to know each other on a private musician social network platform that we set up.

I'm very excited that Mercy Mercia is being cut to vinyl!

Here's a picture of the printed cover and labels sent to me by the Lathe company 'Lathe to the Grave' (based in Portsmouth, England).

I'll let you all know as soon as I have the records in my possession!

It's a double LP release as the album length is so long. But with it being a double LP it means I can release a few rare versions of the some songs- different mixes or extended versions.

On 17th April my two demo albums 'Ray' and 'Mountjoy' will be available to purchase on iTunes, Amazon and over 30 other digital stores including Spotify. You may have noticed that these demo albums have been available since 2012 but due to the digital distributor Zimbalam screwing it's artists I haven't been able to earn any money from the releases of late. I'm now re-releasing them with the digital distributor- Routenote. My other previously unreleased demo album 'Roy' will be available on the 17th May.

St Denys church in Southampton has been around for 150 years. To celebrate this amazing feat and help fund-raise money for it's upkeep, they held a concert on the evening of Saturday the 6th of October. We played 3 songs and had a great time. It was an outstanding eclectic evening and a privilege to play at. Apparently it was filmed so I may have footage to show you soon!!

This Wednesday sees my next gig at The Art House in Southampton, it's the follow up gig to my launch gig earlier in the year. We will be welcoming Alan Stewart to the band line-up. He's a fabulous keyboard player and drummer and I'm really looking forward to experiencing what he brings to our live set.

I had a terrific launch gig at The Art House on Shrove Tuesday. It was so packed that the were letting people in for free in the downstairs section to watch the gig on the big screen. They also ran out of beer, which has to be a good sign!!

I had a band of 5 people. The partially moustached but incomparable Aidan Bryden on Guitar and Vocals, the fantastic Sam East on Bass Guitar, The tremendous Conroy Williams on Cajon and Trombone, the phenomenal Vicki Smith on Glockenspiel, Shaker, Tambourine and Vocals, and Steve Amadeo on Piano and Ableton.

(Of course Steve was breathtaking too!!)

So all the mastering is done...hurray!!. Now I'm looking in to PRS, PPL, Music publishers, Record labels, AP2 licences, AP2 exclusions and duplicators. Such fun. Not long now...

It's been a while since I've been involved in the mastering process for an album and the fantastic Steve Harding at Push Studios in Bognor Regis  has given me an in-depth run down of the complete procedure. We've chosen some reference tracks/ albums and worked hard to keep continuity of sound for all 13 songs on the album. I'm now doing a test listen just to check if there are any final tweaks before the master is finalised.

So there are 13 songs on the album. Final tweaks are being applied to the final song this week.

The art work is very nearly done.

Mastering will be next and then setting a release date.

I will release the album digitally, but will also get some C.D.s made as there is still demand for that format.

I've had some really fantastic people help me on the journey of this album. César Moreno has taken a load of photo's of me in a studio and on location. many of which you'll see on this website and some will be used on the album sleeve. Ryan Smith has designed a really top notch album cover referencing the songs and creating the atmosphere I was hoping for. Steve Harding and Tom Mills have worked crazilly hard at Push Studio's in Bognor Regis on each and every song helping me to keep my 'sound' and bring my music up to the next level of production. Amy 'Clark' Aland helped me with my Twitter, Youtube and Facebook pages and has tirelessly pestered me to keep posting on them to keep people informed. Bao Linh Nguyen helped design this website with all it's lovely colour co-ordination. That's not to mention all the people who have played on the album. More of them to come in later posts. But for now... thanks  to all the lovely people who've helped make this possible!!
